I’ve gotta say the Harry Potter trailer out today didn’t do a whole lot for me as far as wanting to go and get the game as soon as it comes out. The game animation seemed a bit stiff and I don’t go for the 3rd person type of games where the camera is all over the place. However, a big advantage this game has is the spell casting system for the Wii where the endless flicking system has been replaced with the more traditional point and cast technique.
Watch the trailer after the jump.
You’d think a game that is focused around magic would have ‘awesomer’ particle effects, or am I just spoiled having played Final Fantasy all these years that little worm-like spell tracers and puffs of colored smoke don’t do it for me. Maybe this has yet to be revealed.
I guess they are still limited by how fast they can develop their programming on the brand new game engine designed to leverage the power of HD gaming systems, as they put it. Well, it’s about time since HD gaming systems have been around now for quite a while!
Still, objectively, it looks like an improvement over other HP games in certain departments. They are touting that it’s action packed and that it seems to be judging from this trailer which is start to finish nothing but rampant wand flicking. I can only hope that the story is just as well developed with plenty of well produced cinematics. To me, the likeness of the characters to their film counterparts is notably one of the integral achievements of this installment. More about that after the games release!
